Milo at The Ellison
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
heritage flavor reimagined
Milo is a tastefully elevated, deeply Oklahoman, and innately curious dining experience located on the first floor of the Ellison Hotel. Inspired by milo sorghum, a heritage grain and key Oklahoma export, Milo celebrates and elevates Oklahoma’s local flavors with Chef Josh Valentine at the helm. Cooper House’s approach to the brand was steeped in elements of Oklahoma culture and narrative—and the brand’s visual language was designed to balance and complement the broader Ellison Hotel identity.

“Brenda Kingery's art demonstrates narrative symbolism, paired with the layered significance of her Oklahoma and Chickasaw heritage. Her work was the perfect choice for Milo.”

“Milo celebrates contemporary Oklahoman cuisine, where guests can find a blend of Southern, Latin, and Indigenous cuisines that are thoughtfully created and artistically presented – but more importantly, delicious.”
Josh Valentine, Executive Chef
Conceptually, the Milo brand bridges the gap between illustrative, heritage-inspired designs and crisp, modern typefaces as shown in the primary wordmark. Visual art and interior design considerations were central to our branding approach, as we worked closely with California-based KNA Design. Cooper House consulted on art sourcing, and KNA implemented our custom illustrations into a wallpaper pattern used throughout the space.
